Terms of Service
JagInsights is run by JagInsights LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. These Terms are the agreement between you and us. We have tried to write them in plain English so you can actually read them.
The short version. JagInsights teaches personal finance. Everything here — the learning modules, the quizzes, the Budget Tools calculators, and the games — is education and general information, not personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We are not licensed financial advisors, brokers, accountants, or attorneys. Our games use play money and do not touch real accounts or real securities.
The paid Starter plan is $1.99 per month and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel yourself at any time from Billing. See Section 12.
Section 23 requires most disputes to go to individual arbitration instead of court, and waives class actions. You can opt out within 30 days.
1. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using jaginsights.com and everything on it (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
When you sign up you are asked to tick a box confirming you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Ticking that box and using the Service forms a binding contract between you and JagInsights LLC.
2. What JagInsights is
JagInsights is a personal-finance learning site. It includes:
- Insights modules and quizzes — short lessons on budgeting, credit, investing, taxes, crypto and related topics, with quizzes that award XP.
- Budget Tools — a set of calculators that run entirely in your own browser.
- Games — finance-themed games that use play money only.
- Progress features — XP, streaks, levels, badges, cosmetics, profiles, friends and leaderboards.
JagInsights LLC is not a broker, dealer, exchange, bank, lender, investment adviser, tax preparer, or law firm. We do not open accounts for you, hold money for you, execute trades, or manage anyone's assets. Nothing on the Service places a real order or moves real money.
3. Educational content is not financial advice
This is the most important section on this page.
Every part of the Service is general education. That includes:
- the text, video and interactive content in every learning module;
- every quiz question, answer and explanation;
- every number, chart, ratio, projection or recommendation produced by the Budget Tools calculators;
- everything that happens inside the games, including any in-game result, score, coaching line or outcome;
- any tips, prompts, emails, notifications or example scenarios we show you.
None of it is personalized financial, investment, tax, accounting, retirement, insurance or legal advice. None of it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, cryptocurrency, insurance product, loan or other financial product. It is not tailored to your income, debts, family, goals, tax situation or risk tolerance, because we do not know them.
Using the Service does not create an advisory, brokerage, fiduciary, accountant-client or attorney-client relationship between you and JagInsights LLC or anyone who writes for us. Before you make a real financial decision, talk to a licensed professional who knows your situation.
We also make no promise about results. Learning about money on JagInsights will not necessarily improve your finances, your credit score, your returns, or anything else. Past examples and simulated outcomes are illustrations, not predictions.
4. Budget Tools and calculator results
The Budget Tools calculators run in your browser and work only from the numbers you type in. Their output is an estimate produced by a simplified model. It is not a financial plan, an audit, a tax calculation, a loan quote, an amortization schedule you should rely on, or a projection of what will actually happen.
Real life includes taxes, fees, interest-rate changes, inflation, penalties, employer rules, credit terms and personal circumstances that these tools do not capture. Rounding, model assumptions and simple errors are possible. Verify anything important with your bank, your tax professional, or a licensed advisor before you act on it. You are responsible for the numbers you enter and for anything you do with the results.
Budget Tools save your entries to your own device using your browser's local storage. Nothing you type into them is sent to us. That also means we cannot recover it: clearing your browser data, switching devices or using a private window will lose it, and we are not liable for that loss.
5. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over may purchase a subscription or provide a payment method. If you are a parent or guardian and you let a minor use your account or your payment method, you are responsible for their activity and for the charges.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly let anyone under 13 create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete it. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete such an account at support@jaginsights.com.
We do not verify age. Signup does not ask for a birthdate, so the statements above are representations you make to us, not something we check. By using the Service you represent that you meet the age requirement and that everything you tell us is accurate. If that representation is false, we may suspend or delete the account.
6. Your account
You need an account for most of the Service. You sign up with an email address and a password. Keep your password confidential, use the Service only through your own account, and do not share, sell, transfer or lend it. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
Tell us promptly at support@jaginsights.com if you think someone else has used your account. You must give accurate information and keep it current. One person, one account — accounts created to farm XP, badges or leaderboard positions may be removed.
7. Acceptable use
When you use JagInsights, you agree not to:
- cheat, exploit bugs, or manipulate XP, streaks, badges, game scores or leaderboard standings;
- use bots, scripts, scrapers, crawlers or other automated tools on the Service;
- copy, republish, resell or redistribute our lessons, quiz questions, games or other content;
- use our content to build, train or evaluate a competing product, model or dataset;
- try to access an account, system or data you are not authorised to access;
- probe, disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or circumvent any part of the Service, including plan gating and paywalls;
- upload malicious code, or use the Service for anything unlawful, deceptive, harmful or abusive;
- harass other users, or choose a username, bio, or profile content that is offensive, impersonating, misleading or infringing.
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access without notice.
8. XP, badges, cosmetics and leaderboards
XP, levels, streaks, badges, titles, cosmetic items, in-game play money and leaderboard standings exist only inside the Service. They are not your property, have no cash value, and cannot be sold, transferred, redeemed or exchanged for money or anything of value, inside or outside the Service. We may adjust, reset, correct or remove them at any time — for example to fix a bug, reverse cheating, or change how progression works — and we are not liable for doing so.
Leaderboards are public to other signed-in users. If you appear on a leaderboard, your username and score are visible to other signed-in members. Choose a username you are comfortable showing publicly, and do not use your real name if you would rather not be identified. You can change your username on your profile.
9. Your content and the licence you give us
You are responsible for what you put into the Service — your username, profile bio, equipped cosmetics, friend activity and anything else you submit. Do not submit anything unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, deceptive, or that reveals someone else's private information.
You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant JagInsights LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of operating, securing and promoting the Service — including displaying your username and score on leaderboards, profiles and friend lists. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already made in routine backups and for anything already shown to other users.
We may remove content that violates these Terms, but we do not pre-screen content and we are not obliged to monitor it.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service — including the modules, quiz banks, games, calculators, software, code, design, artwork, logos and the JagInsights name — is owned by JagInsights LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial learning while these Terms are in effect. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, licence, publicly perform, scrape, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission, except where the law says you may.
11. Subscriptions and billing
Most of JagInsights is free. Some features require a paid subscription — currently the Starter plan. The price, billing interval and what is included are shown to you at checkout, and those are the terms that apply to your purchase.
Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe you also agree to Stripe's terms. JagInsights never receives or stores your full card number — your payment details go directly to Stripe.
Taxes. Prices are in U.S. dollars. Any sales or similar tax that applies is added at checkout or charged as required by law.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we or Stripe may retry it. If it keeps failing, paid features may be suspended or your subscription cancelled.
Free trials and promotions. If your subscription starts with a free trial or a promotional price, the terms of that offer are shown to you at checkout. Unless you cancel before the trial or promotional period ends, the plan automatically continues at the regular price described in Section 12.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If we do, we will give you notice before the change takes effect, and the new price applies only to billing periods that start after that notice. If you do not want the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
12. Automatic renewal and how to cancel
Please read this. Your subscription renews on its own until you cancel it.
- What you get: the JagInsights Starter plan.
- Recurring price: $1.99 per month, plus any applicable tax.
- Billing interval: every month, charged to the payment method you gave Stripe at checkout.
- How long it lasts: it renews automatically each month and keeps charging you until you cancel. There is no end date.
- How to cancel: sign in and go to Billing, then use Cancel Membership or Open Customer Portal, which takes you to Stripe's customer portal where you can cancel yourself. You can also email support@jaginsights.com and ask us to cancel it for you.
- When cancelling takes effect: cancelling stops future charges. Your Starter access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and then stops. You do not have to give a reason and there is no cancellation fee.
- Deleting your account from Settings also cancels your subscription (see Section 18).
Cancel at least one day before your renewal date to be sure the next charge does not go through.
13. Refunds
JagInsights subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where refunds are required by applicable law. You can cancel at any time and you keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, so cancelling never forfeits time you paid for.
Whatever policy applies, the following is true regardless: refunds required by applicable law will always be honoured, including any statutory cancellation or cooling-off right you have where you live. If you believe you were charged in error or charged after cancelling, email support@jaginsights.com with your account email and the date of the charge and we will review it in good faith.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe. We do not refund partial months once a billing period has begun unless the law or the policy above says otherwise.
14. Third-party services
We rely on third-party providers to run JagInsights, including Supabase (accounts and database), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), Resend (transactional email) and Google Fonts (fonts loaded by your browser). We are not responsible for their acts, omissions, outages or policies, and your use of them is subject to their own terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what data each one handles.
The Service may also link to third-party sites and resources. We do not control them, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content or practices. Visiting them is at your own risk.
15. Disclaimers — the Service is provided “as is”
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely or error-free; that lessons, quiz answers, calculator outputs or game results are accurate, complete or current; that defects will be corrected; or that your data will never be lost. Content may become out of date, and tax, credit and financial rules change. You use the Service at your own risk.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JagInsights LLC and its owners, members, officers, employees, contributors, agents and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, savings, investment value, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Service — whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other theory, and even if we were told such damages were possible.
This expressly includes any loss connected to a real-world financial decision you made after using the Service, and any loss connected to relying on a lesson, quiz answer, calculator result or game outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you actually paid JagInsights LLC in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless JagInsights LLC and its owners, members, officers, employees, agents and licensors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms or of any law, or your violation of anyone else's rights. We may take over the defence of any matter subject to this section, and you agree to cooperate.
18. Termination and deleting your account
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account yourself from Settings. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription, removes your profile and progress, and is permanent — XP, streaks, badges, cosmetics, quiz history and game stats cannot be restored afterwards. If you only want to stop being billed, cancel your subscription instead of deleting the account (see Section 12).
We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if it is necessary to protect the Service or other users, or if we are required to by law. We may also discontinue the Service or any feature. If we terminate your paid subscription without cause, we will refund the unused portion of the period you have already paid for.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 27 — survive.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give reasonable additional notice — for example an in-app notice or an email to your account address. Changes apply going forward. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and, if you subscribe, cancel.
20. Assumption of risk; no professional relationship
You use JagInsights voluntarily and at your own risk. It is a learning environment. Any decision you make in the real world — how to budget, whether to borrow, what to buy, sell or hold, how to file your taxes, what insurance to carry — is solely your own decision and your own responsibility. No advisory, brokerage, fiduciary or other professional relationship is created between you and JagInsights LLC by your use of the Service, and no message, prompt, badge, score, ranking or calculator output from the Service is individualized advice.
21. Beta and preview features
We may offer features labelled or reasonably understood to be beta, preview, experimental or early-access. They are provided “as is”, may contain errors, may change or be withdrawn at any time, may lose your data, and are excluded from any commitment or warranty in these Terms.
22. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising from them or from the Service are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to Section 23, any dispute not subject to arbitration will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
23. Binding arbitration and class action waiver
Read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to sue in court and to have a jury trial.
Except as described below, you and JagInsights LLC agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration rather than in court. The arbitration will be administered by a recognised arbitration provider under its consumer arbitration rules then in effect, and may take place in Virginia or, at your election, by phone, video or written submissions. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Informal resolution first. Before starting arbitration, email support@jaginsights.com describing the dispute and the relief you want. Give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
Class action and jury waiver. You and JagInsights LLC each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims. You and JagInsights LLC each waive any right to a jury trial.
Exceptions. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property or to stop unauthorised access to the Service.
How to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing support@jaginsights.com from your account email with a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out costs nothing, does not affect your use of the Service, and does not change any other part of these Terms.
24. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@jaginsights.com with enough detail to identify the work and the material you say infringes it, your contact information, and a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised. We may remove allegedly infringing material and may terminate repeat infringers.
25. Export controls and sanctions
You represent that you are not located in, and are not a national or resident of, any country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, and that you are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list. You agree to use the Service only in compliance with applicable export-control and sanctions laws. The Service is operated from the United States and we make no claim that it is appropriate or available elsewhere.
26. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports or other feedback about the Service, you grant JagInsights LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it for any purpose, with no obligation or compensation to you.
27. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan terms shown at checkout, are the entire agreement between you and JagInsights LLC about the Service and replace any earlier agreements. Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect; the class-action waiver in Section 23 is not severable from the arbitration agreement, so if that waiver is unenforceable then Section 23 does not apply to the affected claim. No waiver. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them, including in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Force majeure. We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Electronic communications. You consent to receive communications from us electronically, and agreements delivered electronically satisfy any requirement that they be in writing. Headings. Section headings are for convenience only.
